The 2025 FEMM Medical Management Masterclass proved to be a great success, with over one hundred attendees from diverse locations all gathered to explore new medical research and implement treatment protocols in women’s reproductive health.
The Masterclass is taking women’s health to new heights, as a variety of providers explained that this is what makes FEMM and its Masterclass different.
FEMM makes this its top priority: giving women the most up-to-date, accurate, and holistic education about their bodies as possible. One Masterclass attendee from Michigan talked about how much the Masterclass reinforced new scientific research that came out over the course of the last year. “Being here just makes me want to get this information out there!” she said. This year, the Masterclass highlighted how FEMM tailors its treatments to particular individuals and their personal experiences, taking into account a variety of circumstances and unique characteristics of each woman.
Another medical provider from Tennessee shared with FEMM that PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome), for example, can appear in women differently: “Symptoms can look different in different locations. I knew we had to treat women with an understanding of the difference between metabolic and reproductive aspects to their symptoms, but the WHY of the new research became more and more clear as the Masterclass progressed.”
FEMM and its research arm, Reproductive Health Research Institute (RHRI), complete new research every year, which is then applied in a diagnostic setting to FEMM patients, getting to the root of health issues and finding a proper diagnosis.
“Other programs in medicine aren’t really done that way,” another provider from Washington described. The Masterclass, she continued, went into the ins and outs about how some patients are taught from other protocols that they “just need hormone replacements.” This is a limiting diagnosis, however, because “you have to study the metabolic factors like diet, insulin levels, body weight, etc. to help each woman determine which area of her health to begin focusing on.”
Even more, one FEMM doctor said that the best part of the Masterclass is that “everything Dr. Pilar teaches is presented differently each year, and we learn more and go deeper each time. You can really imagine yourself entering into a clinic in each case study.” For example, the doctor explained that women who have an ovulatory cycle have a healthier BMI and improved mood—so the impact of the FEMM slogan, “ovulation as a sign of health,” is presented in new, enlightening ways each year.
One nurse shared that the best thing about FEMM is that it’s “so open to anyone struggling and open to any stage or walk of life.”
The importance of a healthy lifestyle is of utmost importance to the FEMM team, understanding that the pressures of modern-day living affect all of us, not just a select few. “The biggest thing that stuck out to me about the Masterclass as a provider was the discussion of the silent stress pandemic.” Stress is becoming something to be expected rather than assuaged, and it is showing in patients. Stress inhibits the menstrual cycle through increasing cortisol levels; however, this fact is notably absent in the cultural discussion about the impact of stress on health. FEMM is working tirelessly to fill the research gap in how stress and hormones are interrelated and significantly influence health, for each woman and future generations. By doing so, FEMM provides trusted support in women’s health and wellbeing, educating adolescents, women and men with this goal in mind. The FEMM Medical Management classes are where this goal is delivered and put into action.
FEMM is proud to work with an impressive team of doctors, providers, and educators. As one nurse practitioner put it: the main takeaway from the 2025 Masterclass is that “as providers and educators, we still have so much work to do to share this message, educate, spread the word, and teach other people!”
