Avoid or Achieve Pregnancy

The FEMM app can assist in  preventing or achieving pregnancy by helping you identify ovulation and your fertile window.

Recognizing Ovulation and Fertile Window

As ovulation approaches, estrogen increases and stimulates the production of cervical fluid, which becomes stretchy, clear and more abundant as you approach ovulation.. Dark blue is used in the FEMM app to record this stretchy, most fertile-quality cervical fluid.Because sperm can survive in fertile-quality cervical fluid, you are considered fertile once you start to observe moist cervical fluid.

The last dark blue day in your cycle is your peak day because it is the point where estrogen is highest. Ovulation occurs within the three days before or after your peak day. This period of time, between the start of fertile-quality cervical fluid and three days after your peak day, is your fertile window.

To achieve pregnancy, you should have intercourse during your fertile window. It’s also best to have intercourse during the dark blue days, when you have the most fertile-quality cervical fluid. This type of mucus can help sperm survive for up to 5 days, enabling it to seek out and fertilize the egg once it is released.

To avoid pregnancy, avoid genital contact during your fertile window.
